About Me

I bring passion for quality and precision in all aspects of my work as a front–end web developer. As a psychology major at Immaculata College, I went to work for a software company. Given the opportunity to update my department’s website on the company intranet using Home Site and Photoshop I knew it was all over from there. This was the only field I considered.

During my ten years working in Philadelphia with large and small businesses and nonprofit organizations, I spent four years training at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. I am now an Art Institute speaker on web development, and career issues.

My Projects and Jobs

  •       The Scientist: Senior Front-end Developer; upgrading web site to web standards, improving usability, functionality and site design.

  •       Independence Blue Cross: Site65 website redesign and development for strict accessibility standards for users 65 years and older.

  •       The Franklin Institute: Lead developer for Institute web site

  •       Whitman Hart: Lead developer in the management of Centocor’s five websites.

As a person and a web developer, I am meticulous, logical and persistent. High quality standards and neatness describe me as a person and and my code. When I tackle a project I first sketch the project’s functionality to use as a blueprint.  My greatest satisfaction is seeing a project through from inception to live on the web. Whether developing a small website for a new entrepreneur or revising a major pharmaceutical website, I find Information Architecture, design and most of all development to be incredibly satisfying.

I am an accomplished baker of cookies and cakes and find baking similar to web development. You can’t really stray from the recipe until you get to know the basics. If you try making substitutions without understanding the impact on the end product, things can go terribly wrong.  Once you get the hang of things, you can really let your imagination run wild.   This is the experience, passion, and creativity I bring to my work as a web developer.

My specialties in order of preference:

  • Actionscript 3.0

  • Flash animation

  • AJAX, XSL and JSP.

  • Javascript

  • CSS
